pretty is as pretty does

There is a phrase I learned at a young age, Pretty is as Pretty does.
 Well basically that means don't copy what ya hear and or say don't anything ugly. Instead do what you know is right. Well that is true especially in a salon setting because gossip is a cruel ugly thing that we all do. I have learned the hard way that anything you say can be harmful and hurtful. So in my shop I have become as gossip free as one can be, and any of my patrons can tell you that's how I really try to be. I Am human and like to tell stories, and for goodness sake I can't keep a a good secret( like if your engaged or pregnant..ect). So pretty is as pretty does... simply means if you can't say pretty things your not as pretty as your false lashes and  blusher make you look! Now let me be honest I know that I have gossiped, which I am not proud to admit! But I also know that many of my clients are neighbors and friends and that means. I want all of you to know I am concerned about you! I will ask how 'so and so' is feeling after having a baby, and what I can do to help. SO if I ask something I shouldn't call me out on it!!! The reason for this post is more for me than anything. Just to remind me that being gossip free is better than knowing anyone nonsense that goes on behind closed doors. I don't want to know that stuff. Mostly because I am a walking mess myself . I'm sure whatever is happening with 'so and so' is awful enough without me talking about it! OK does this mean I'M not interested in YOU and your life absolutely not. I totally am. I want to know how your vacation was, and how your childhood was and I feel so sad for you, if your going through a hard time. I have learned a lot in my little shop and I am so blessed to know so many people. I am touched that you all want to share your life with me. Because who am I? I just do your hair, ya know! That being said sometimes I rant to you about my crazy life. And the response is usually: you are normal welcome to reality! Which means, I have to thank all of you who are so nice to put up with my nonsense behind closed doors that I share with you. I want you to know that I am making a HUGE effort to keep talking about my crazy life to a minimum!
