generosity
generosity;
This weekend I had the lovely pleasure of doing hair and makeup on some of the most stunning young woman you will ever meet. They are the girls of the special needs group of Mr.G's class. They ranged in ages, ethnicity, disabilities and PERSONALITIES. These girls I feel deserve to look their very best and to feel beautiful inside and out. I had a lovely team of woman helping me an I am proud to call them friends and Family.
MY sister in law Lisa Jeppsen who is a very talented makeup artist helped transform these girls into rock stars, glamed up goddess and shockingly pink divas. She handled each girl with so much class and treated them like princesses. Lisa transformed the outside of these beautiful souls but I think forever changed their self esteem. By helping them see how gorgeous they really are. Lisa is such an inspiration to me she has had a very struggling week, and yet still took the time out to give these girls the treatment they deserve. I am so lucky to have her in my life as a friend and family member.
MY sister in law Heidi Stevenson did some beautiful hair on these lovely girls and made them feel so gorgeous. One girl stood out in my mind. She is adopted into a family of 25 siblings, from an orphanage in Brazil. She had several physical handy caps. She only has one leg and both hands an fingers are disfigured. She cant really grasp onto anything and even had to be helped to put on her own shoes. She has very thick natural curly hair. Heidi took the time to smooth it out into a soft gentle curl. This girl could not of done this on her own and she absolutely loved it. Heidi took her generosity one step farther and even gave her a strapless bra so that her dress fit and looked flawless. By far this girl had the best attitude she definitely made us laugh and smile the whole time we were there. She has the most challenges physically but you would never guess that she struggles so much, because she is happy. She was extremely grateful and thanked us several times and even asked to get a picture with us. Heidi changed that beautiful girl forever and me as well I will always remember this experience an treasure what Heidi did for her. I am so proud to know Heidi and the amazing person she is.
MY sister in law Becca Jeppsen had to work overtime an still came to help for two hours before going to work on swing shift. She has been in theater so much that she knows her way around a curling iron. She helped so much by curling the girls hair so that we could focus on making a fun updo in the girls hair. She even painted a girls nails to match her dress. Her attitude when I asked her to help was yes yes yes and she wished she could of helped the whole time. She truly is a giving person and I am grateful for her in my life.
Well this isn't the first time I have helped out with the special needs class for prom and its definitely not my last. I hope that for several years I have the opportunity to help these beautiful young women see their potential. Because I think it effects me more than them. My heart is so full of joy and love for people of my community who have disabilities. I really do cherish the moments I get to spend with these girls, they make the perspective of life come to full focus.
next year I hope Kami can come help to......
... I do have another sister in law Kami Jeppsen and I would of asked her to help but, She is having a baby any day now and I knew that her body would probably be too tired to stand for 4 hours an help us. She is an inspiration to me as well. I love her ability to make everyone feel loved and appreciated. Last weekend all of us girls went to get pedicures for Kami's last hooorah, before baby number 4 comes home. She was overly thankful and even txt me twice to say thank you she is an amazing woman and I hope to become more like her.
I know that we are all so busy with our own lives but I encourage all of you to do some service. This experience has made me understand so much more the challenges that families have, who raise children with disabilities. I wish I could make every little girl feel like a princess, but especially those who struggle with a mental or physical challenges.........If you know anyone who you would like to have a special day with me and my team please let me know. We would be so ecstatic to help them in any way....every girl deserves lipstick and sparkles!!!!!
